The following groups are fighting for your village and have all stated - at one time - that greenbelt sites shall not be developed until all the current brownfield and approved land is used up.
Who is really working for you? Click the group's names and find out more about them.
Formed by a group of residents who became aware of the new MIR document and formed this group in April 2017, to campaign to keep the 'all the existing' Kilmacolm Greenbelt intact in the next Local Development Plan (LDP) from 2019 and to have both the 'planners preferred' sites removed from the plan and to encourage the use of Brownfield and all the existing 'approved' building land and the new plots at Lepperstone to be used first.
They are not against development on the Greenbelt around Kilmacolm but this has to be done in a controlled fashion NOT imposed on the village by developers.
Also note here, that in the responses to the MIR in May 2017 there were 137 objections to West of Quarry Drive and only 1 objection for building at the Knapps Loch!
Kilmacolm Civic Trust (KCT) - say they are working to enhance and preserve the character and amenities of the villages of Kilmacolm and the surrounding area.
What is a Community Council - A 'Good Practice Document' by the Scottish Government - please click to read.
They meet every month in the Kilmacolm Community Centre except for July and December. Their meetings include discussions on local planning issues, policing, schools, traffic and much more. Also, meetings include the speeding issues and parking on the pavement problems in the village.
How many of our residents have actually attanded a KCC meeting? Other Community Council meetings in the surrounding villages are very well attended - but at a Kilmacolm meeting the attendees can be counted on ONE hand! Surely there are things in the village that 'bother you'?
"If you have something to say about what is happening locally, then do something about it… come along and meet with your Kilmacolm Community Council. We look forward to meeting you or hearing from you!"
Have you considered what your Local Inverclyde Councillor's position is on the 'ongoing greenbelt land grab'?
Why not ask them for a 'clear statement' where they stand?
After all, ALL OF THEM are on the various planning committees and we voted for them to represent us.
